Ebbsfleet finally managed their first home win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Mansfield in Blue Square Premier at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

Fleet, who had not scored for 12 hours and had netted only once in 11 games, made a dream start by scoring after only three minutes.

Ricky Shakes crossed the ball from the right and Magno Vieira was on hand to score from close range.

Their joy was short-lived when Rob Duffy brought the visitors level from the penalty spot after Gavin Heeroo was penalised for handball in the 15th minute.

Fleet went into the break confident they could end their poor run in the second half and took the lead after 56 minutes.

Vieria back-heeled the ball to Peter Holmes and he put the home side in front with a shot low into the middle of the goal.

Vieira had the chance to ensure Fleet took the points but his penalty was saved by keeper Alan Marriott after he had been tripped in penalty area.

The home side were forced to ensure a nervy finale but they held on for their first win in all competitions since August.
