Help couple mark anniversary

Were you a guest at this wedding at St James’ Church in Gravesend in September 1964?

George Russell married Victoria at the church on September 5 and is keen to reunite his guests nearly 50 years later.

Mr Russell grew up in Nine Elms Grove while Victoria was born and raised in the Perry Street area.

They left Gravesend in 1979 but are hoping to reunite everybody next year for their golden wedding.

Mr Russell, 71, said: “The church stood at the crossroads of Darnley Road and New Road but was demolished a few years later to make way for an office block.

“We would like to celebrate our golden anniversary by reassembling as many of our original guests as possible.

"Sadly we have lost contact with several following our move to Sussex over 30 years ago.

“My wife is particularly keen to be able to invite her complete retinue of bridesmaids and the page-boy who attended her on that day.”

The three adults are the best man, Mr Russell and his wife, now 68, with children Beverley Large, Trevor Bromley, Vanda Mester, Gillian Mester and Angela Morgan.
