Dig out your old photos of harbour

People are being asked to uncover old photos of Northfleet harbour.

The site, a few miles upstream of Gravesend just before Swanscombe Peninsular, is being restored to former glory, but while bad weather is holding up digging, Northfleet Harbour Restoration Trust wants to see how it looked before the 1980s.

Conrad Broadley said: “Any pictures of the harbour from before the 1980s will be of immense value building up an overall picture of how it used to look; these could be of fishing off the harbour walls, playing on the beach, moored boats, the local pubs or even visiting by boat.

“We are also interested in personal accounts of the harbour in use.”

It is hoped the site could be home to hundreds of vessels as well as offering boat sales, repairs and a whole maritime leisure, sporting and heritage industry.

Photos can be sent by email to broadley@btinternet.com or by post to 80 Dover Road, Northfleet, Kent DA11 9QD. To find out more visit www.northfleetharbour.org.uk
