Protestors are getting ready to march through their village in opposition to plans to build hundreds of homes on greenbelt land.
Rita Ford, 58, of New Road, Meopham, is organising the demo backed by CPRE Protect Kent, on Saturday to ensure as many people as possible know about the proposals.
Her home backs on to a field identified as a site for 213 potential new homes west of Cheshunt Close.
On Wednesday a banner was due to be put up outside The Railway Tavern stating: “Save our Greenbelt”.
The pub in Wrotham Road will be the start of the march which leaves at 2pm and will finish at Steele’s Lane, Meopham.
The march has been organised ahead of a Gravesham Rural Forum meeting with council planning officers on Monday at Istead Rise Community Centre, starting at 6.30pm.
Alex Hills, for CPRE Dartford and Gravesham, said: “The route along the A227 highlights the fact the road is the only one through the village and it also means protesters will pass all the services in the village that are under strain now.
Boyd Collins, 39, owner of The Railway Tavern, said: “I have been a resident for 34 years in Meopham and don’t want to see it become a town. It’s lovely as it is.”
