Cutting edge recycling centre to open

A RUBBISH revolution is set to hit North Kent next month as a new high-tech recycling centre will be opening in Northfleet.

The Pepperhill Household Waste Recycling Centre will spring into action at 8am on September 1, giving visitors the opportunity to drop off anything from scrap metal to old carpets.

Kent County Council expects about 300,000 residents a year to use the site.

Cabinet member for environment, highways and waste Keith Ferrin is looking forward to tackling waste in Gravesham and Dartford.

He said: “I have two goals for Pepperhill: firstly, I want customers to have a good experience every time they visit and secondly, I want the recycling and composting rate to be as high as possible.

“By working closely with residents I’m confident both these objectives can be achieved.”

The centre will be run by Waste Recycling Group Ltd and will be open seven days a week.
