Car on fire on A227 Gravesend Road

Fire crews attended a car alight beside a busy main road.

The incident caused traffic delays on the A227 Gravesend Road near Wrotham in both directions.

Two engines were called to deal with the fire today at 10.50am. It was all dealt with by 11.20am.

Traffic was also disrupted due to road works on the A227 itself and four-way traffic lights at the roundabout for the A20 London Road.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

No casualties were reported and the cause is not currently known.
