A church youth leader has been told he will be registered as a sex offender for the next five years.

Mark Pennell, 37, of Tooley Street, Gravesend, admitted one charge of voyeurism after travelling with his church to the East of England show in Peterborough in August.

He admitted in court last month that he used a mobile phone to film a man in a shower cubicle.

Pennell had been a youth leader at the church since 1997 but has now moved to another church to receive support.

Dartford magistrates sentenced him today to five years on the Sex Offenders Register with a three year community order under supervision.

Pennell was also told to pay the victim £500 in compensation along with £85 court costs.

William Chipperfield, defending, said his client had a 'moment of madness' and that he was paying the price for his actions.
