Farming machinery used in attempt to steal a cash machine from a shop in The Parade, Wrotham Road, Meopham

Police are investigating the attempted theft of a cash machine in Meopham in an early morning raid.

At 3.45am a piece of farming machinery is reported to have been used in an attempt to remove the ATM from a wall at Tesco Express in The Parade, Wrotham Road.

The cash machine was not taken and no significant structural damage has been caused to the building.

The farming equipment is also reported to have been stolen.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and no suspects have been identified.

The store is trading as normal.
