Car and van ablaze overnight in Gravesend

Firefighters were called out twice within two hours last night to separate reports of vehicles found alight.

The Thames Side branch of Kent Fire and Rescue Services attended a car blaze in Packham Road, Northfleet shortly after midnight.

One fire engine was called and crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze in around 20 minutes.

The cause is believed to be accidental.

Shortly after the fire crew were alerted to reports of a van alight in the Denton area of Gravesend, close to the travellers site at 1:18am.

A single fire engine was again in attendance and crews put out the flames with a hose reel jet.

No one was injured in the fire and the exact cause is not yet known.
