A man's body has been found near a shopping centre.

Police were called to Thamesgate Shopping Centre in Gravesend in the early hours of today.

Multiple police vehicles and medics were seen in Clive Road, near Gravesend Railway Station this morning.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 5.44am on Tuesday, October 17 to a concern for the welfare of a person near the Thamesgate Shopping Centre in Gravesend.

"Officers attended along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service and have since left the scene."

The car park remained cordoned off until this afternoon.

It is understood the death is not being treated as suspicious.
