Beatles for Breakfast

One of the most famous album covers in history has never looked so tasty - and could be the perfect dish after a hard day’s night.

Classic ingredients found in a full English breakfast have ‘bean’ used to recreate the iconic shot of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road.

The striking mosaic artwork was commissioned by the Beefeater Grill chain after customers at the Woodlands restaurant in Wrotham Road chose the Abbey Road album cover as their favourite all-time British image.

Food sculptor Paul Baker, with a little help from his friends, served up his creation by using sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes, croissants, crumpets, hash browns and toast - all ingredients from the Beefeater Grill breakfast menu.

In keeping with his preference for vegetarian food, Paul McCartney was re-created entirely of mushrooms.

The legendary shot of Paul, John, Ringo and George 'crossiant' the famous North London road was chosen in a poll of customers and staff throughout the restaurant chain.

Other images among the top five included Bobby Moore celebrating England’s historic World Cup win in 1966, Wills and Kate kissing on the Buckingham Palace balcony, Winston Churchill holding up the peace sign and the Queen’s coronation in 1953.
