The Three Daws Riverside Inn, Gravesend, cancels fireworks display

A popular annual fireworks display put on by a pub has been cancelled.

The Three Daws Riverside Inn, Gravesend, has announced it is unable to host the event next Saturday due to “restrictions” it can’t comply with.

It comes after an announcement that the town’s annual free firework display will not be taking place this year after Gravesham council was unable to secure sponsorship for the event after its agreement with Swale Heating ended.

The Three Daws said in a statement: “It is with deepest regret that we must announce the cancellation of our fireworks night this year.

“Sadly, restrictions that have been placed upon us this year mean that it will be impossible for us to go ahead with this event that has been running succesfully, and without incident, for the last 15+ years.

“We are very sorry to all our customers, please know that we tried our absolute hardest to comply with everything – but it wasn’t to be. Fingers crossed we can get something in place for next year.

“On a positive note, other displays along the river are still allowed to go ahead. So please feel free to come down to us and enjoy the fireworks from our garden. We will have a BBQ going, free sweet bags for the kids and we will make it an enjoyable evening.

“We look forward to seeing you all and thank you for your continued support.”

The pub declined to comment on what the restrictions were they were unable to deal with.

The Clarendon Royal Community in Royal Pier Road, will be putting on a display on November 4.

Tickets are £10 for adults and free for children. Under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult.

Food, drinks and a disco will start from 6pm and will be followed by the display.
