It was spotted by a local resident who said she heard reports a person had been injured nearby.

Genny Jones was walking back from the shops along St Marks Avenue when she witnessed the presence of emergency services shortly after midday.

She said: "I heard it and I was seeing what it was up to. I'm just hoping and praying the person is okay.

"Someone said they had been involved in an accident on the A2."

The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent air ambulance charity have been approached for more details.
