11 held after unprovoked attack in street

KENT Police have arrested 11 young people aged between 15-23 after an unprovoked attack on a man in Gravesend town centre.

A gang of up to 15 people, predominantly young men, seriously assaulted the 30-year-old victim who was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

All of the people who were arrested live in the Gravesend area. Two of them are girls. They have all been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in Parrock Street around Whispers bar and club between 10.30pm and 11pm last Friday.

They are particularly interested to hear from a driver forced to stop whiole the incident was taking place. Officers are also checking CCTV.

Det Con Ali Murray, “This was an unprovoked incident that has caused a great deal of distress to the victim and his family.

“We are following various lines of enquiry. However, I would urge those with any information, who may have witnessed the attack or seen a group of youths in the area behaving in an anti-social manner, to contact the police as soon as possible.”

The victim was treated over the weekend at hospital and is now recuperating at home in Gravesend after being released on Monday night.
