TWO Kent women helped England win an unprecedented third straight RBS Six Nations Grand Slam on Saturday.

Folkestone’s Catherine Spencer and Medway’s Rachael Burford helped England on their way to a 17-7 victory over Ireland at London Irish in Sunbury.

And the win sent out a strong message to reigning World Champions New Zealand, who Spencer and Burford could well be squaring up to when the World Cup gets underway in 2010.

The hard-fought win came following a 55-0 win over Wales, a 76-6 triumph against Italy, a record 31-0 victory against France and a 34-5 defeat of Scotland.

England Head Coach Gary Street said: "It’s a great feeling to win the Grand Slam again. For me this is my first one as Head Coach and I have to say this title is a testament to the hard work of the players on and off the field."
