Kent Grand National to be held next year

FOLKESTONE will be staging its very own Kent Grand National at the Westenhanger course next year.

The feature race on Wednesday February 27 will be over three mile seven furlongs and a real test of stamina over 22 fences.

The prize money of £25,000 is certain to attract a high class field, and with the Aintree National five weeks later, it may well encourage top trainers to use this race as preparation for the big event.

Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross said: "I really wanted to add a showcase event to the Folkestone programme and I am delighted to do it.We hope it becomes an annual highlight at the course."
