Invicta punished with £1,000 fine

FOLKESTONE Invicta have been fined £1,000 by the Football Association and warned about their future conduct at a Disciplinary Commision last Thursday.

The club was charged for the "abusive and racist behaviour and language of some of their supporters towards a Harrow Borough player during the match on April 2, 2005".

Responding to the fine handed out at a disciplinary commission, Invicta issued a statement saying: "The club has considered the FA's ruling and has enquired as to the possibility of an appeal."

The club had denied the charge and were surprised to find out that the commission had taken place without them after they had requested a personal hearing.

Chairman Bob Dix and secretary Neil Pilcher had attended an initial commission in London and then submitted statements from people who had attended the game.

But the commission found the charge to be proved and also ordered the club to place written notices in their matchday programme for the rest of this season and the first three months of next season, stressing the anti-racism message.

Tempers flared last April when an Invicta supporter threw a drink over a Harrow player after the ball was kicked in his direction from the pitch. The supporter was immediately ejected from the ground and has been banned ever since.

Ironically, Folkestone host Harrow Borough on Saturday.
