Folkestone Invicta have kept their experienced back-four together for another season and manager Neil Cugley believes the quartet can still get better.

Full-backs Josh Vincent, 24 (above) and Chris Elliott, 21, have committed to another campaign at the Fullicks Stadium, following in the footsteps of centre-halves Liam Friend 26, and Frankie Chappell, 25.

Between them, the defenders have made more than 1,000 appearances for Folkestone and Cugley’s expecting big things from them in 2014-15.

He said: "They’ll get better, with the age of them all and I’d put Phil Stevenson, 21, in that bracket as well.

"The back-four is important and the goalkeeper’s important, too. Last year, we didn’t have a settled No.1 and it did show but now we’ve got that sorted."

Tim Roberts impressed between the posts for Invicta last season and he’s also agreed to stay with the Ryman League, Division 1 South side.

There is huge experience throughout Cugley’s squad, with Micheal Everitt (557 appearances), James Everitt (369), Darren Smith (186) and Roland Edge (177) all back on board.

Cugley said: "We’re not an old side, even with Edgy, Boothy (Paul Booth) and Darren Smith.

"The nice thing about having those three is that Edgy’s a good defender, Smudger will work with the midfielders and Boothy’s a top striker. They’re knowledgeable and they all like the club as well.

"If you go on from that, with Micheal Everitt, James Everitt and Smudger, we must be doing something right."
