Neil Cugley will continue as manager of Folkestone Invicta despite the club’s relegation from the Ryman Premier League.

The 51-year-old Cugley was given the go-ahead to lead the club for a 12th season following a board meeting last Friday night.

“We had a robust exchange of views and we finally concluded that the manager for next season will be Neil Cugley, which might come as a surprise to a number of people,” said chairman Gordon Wallis. “We agreed unanimously that Neil has got something to prove. He wants the job and we all feel he’s the right man for the job,” he added.

Invicta were relegated on the final day of the season when they went down 1-0 at home to Maidstone United in a winner-stays-up encounter.
