Woman's defender suffers broken jaw

A GOOD Samaritan suffered a fractured jaw when he went to the aid of a woman involved in an argument with a man.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was walking near Folkestone Health Centre in Dover Road at about 2am on Sunday when he noticed the offender and the young woman.

The woman asked him for help and he confronted the offender who was dragging the woman by her hair.

The offender let go of the woman and the victim went to check on her welfare. At this point the offender came from behind and punched him in the back of the head.

The victim was taken to Kent and Canterbury Hospital and treated for a fractured jaw and cuts and bruising.

The offender is described as a white man in his late teens, 5ft 6in tall, of slim build with short spiky brown hair. He was wearing a green and brown coloured top.

Police would like to hear from the woman who asked the man for help, or anyone who witnessed the assault, to contact Det Constable Ian Cutter on 01303 850055.
