The victim sustained fatal injuries when the red Triumph motorcycle he was riding collided with a white Peugeot panel van at the top of Dover Hill.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the road, near the junction with Crete Road East, at around 5.45pm.

The victim's next of kin have been informed, and nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Folkestone Town Councillor Mary Lawes said that Dover road had been a problem for a long time.

She explained: "Residents and myself have been arguing with KCC about the second lane leading up the hill.

"KCC finally listened last year to reducing the speed limit from 60mph to 40mph, however the road does not reduce to one lane until it’s at the top of the hill.

"This is too late to safely pull in from on coming traffic coming passed the Valiant Sailor pub.

"Residents and myself have said the lane needs to reduce into one lane lower down the hill to allow vehicles to get into the left safely."

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are hoping to hear from any witnesses who they have not already spoken to, including anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident.

They would also like to speak to anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist their investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference SM/DC/003/21. You can also email sciu.td@kent.police.uk.
