A MAN died today in a fire at a garage in Sandgate, near Folkestone. He was found in a BMW in the blazing detached garage at a property in Sunnyside Road just before 3am by firefighters.

The team of 11 from Folkestone Fire Station used a sledgehammer and axe to break into the building which had an electronic door. They needed breathing apparatus. They were there for two hours.

The man has not yet been named. The coroner is being informed and an inquest will be held.
