Vehicle containing cattle overturns at junction 11 of M20 near Hythe on London bound carriageway from Folkestone

A livestock trailer carrying cattle overturned on the M20 this afternoon.

The animals were not injured in the incident after the trailer they were being transported in jackknifed and overturned.

Police were called to the exit slip on the London bound carriageway at junction 11 for Hythe shortly before 12pm.

Another trailer came to rescue the cattle while officers employed a rolling roadblock to control traffic while the vehicle was removed and the animals transferred to the other vehicle.

The exit slip road on the B2068 at Westenhanger was closed for around an hour but reopened at 12.45pm.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.36am after a livestock trailer overturned.

"The trailer reportedly contained two cattle that are not thought to have been hurt and have been transferred to another vehicle."
