A20 closed between M20 Junction 13 at Folkestone and A260, including Round Hill Tunnel, says Highways England

The A20 is closed eastbound between the M20 Junction 13 and the A260 near Folkestone.

This is in place to prevent traffic queueing in the Round Hill Tunnel after the implementation of the port traffic control system Dover TAP.

Highways England says that traffic is being diverted via the A259 and the A260 and drivers should following the hollow black circle diversion symbols on road signs.

They should leave the M20 at Junction 13 and take the A259 Churchill Avenue.

Then they should travel east to the A260 Canterbury Road roundabout.

After that they can take the first exit on to the A260 Canterbury Road and head north.

At the Spitfire Way roundabout they should take the third exit on to the A20 eastbound.

A Highways England spokesman said: "If you're travelling or planning to travel towards the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel we are advising road users to expect disruption and to allow extra journey time.

"We advise non-freight traffic to use the strategic diversion via the M2 and A2."

The agency warns that TAP is expected to remain in place throughout this afternoon and there is no estimated time for it to be stood down.
