Twenty minutes later, a PC saw a man he knew was wanted for arson in Sandgate Road. He was taken into custody.

Half an hour later, officers located a man who was wanted on recall to prison at a gym in the town. He was arrested and has since been returned to jail.

Shortly after 5pm, a man was arrested in Bouverie Road West on suspicion of having stolen from a shop elsewhere in the town.

Then just before 7.30pm, a suspect was arrested for failing to appear at court following enquiries by the neighbourhood task force. The man was later transferred to court.

These suspects were all found within nine hours.

DI James Wyles, of Folkestone community safety unit, said this is exactly what neighbourhood policing is all about.

“Officers who know their area, arresting wanted suspects to keep the town safe,” he said.

“Neighbourhood policing remains the bedrock of Kent Police’s service to the public - keeping people safe and targeting those who pose the greatest risk to our communities.”
