George Francis Freddie Davenport, five, from Folkestone, dies in quad bike accident near Castlegregory, County Kerry

A “beautiful” five-year-old boy has died after a quad bike accident.

George Francis Freddie Davenport, from Folkestone, is reported to have been visiting his grandparents in County Kerry, Ireland, with his family when the tragic incident took place on Sunday afternoon.

The police and emergency services rushed to the scene, but the youngster could not be saved.

Tributes have now been paid to George and his grieving loved ones.

Sharing condolences on George’s funeral notice, one person said: “Thinking of George's family at this sad time. A beautiful boy taken too soon. My heart is broken for you all.”

Another wrote: “Lovely George, my heart is broken to hear you have been taken so soon. The most gorgeous soul, you will be truly missed by all. Fly high into the arms of the angels little one.”

A third said: “Absolutely heartbreaking news... can't even begin to imagine you're devastating heartache. Sending you all so much love and strength. George watch over your beautiful family. Rest easy little man... God bless you all xx”

The funeral notice described George as the “Dearly loved son of Laura and David, loving brother of Cian, Jake and Ellie-Rose.

“Sadly missed by his heartbroken family, his parents, brothers and sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, relatives and friends.”

The incident happened on a private property, near Castlegregory.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident on private property, in near Castlegregory, Co. Kerry on Sunday afternoon, 6th August 2023.

“A child (boy) later passed away from his injuries.

“A family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family at this time.”
