Doctor Who star Tom Baker will headline host of sci-fi stars for Folkestone Film, TV and Comic Con 2015 at Folkestone Academy on Saturday May 9

Sci-fi fans will again be treated to a wonderful array of cast members from TV shows and films in Folkestone this weekend – including a former Doctor Who star.

The third Folkestone Film, TV and Comic Con (previously known as Geek Fest) will be held at the Folkestone Academy on Saturday, May 9, from 10am to 5pm.

Organised by the Planet Folkestone team, which is also the group behind the hugely popular Zombie Walk held in the autumn, the event will be headlined by a question-and-answer session with actor Tom Baker, who played the Doctor from 1974 until 1981.

Actors and comic artists from Star Wars, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and Guardians Of The
Galaxy will be attending and hosting a number of signing sessions at which fans can get the memorabilia signed.

Baker will host a Q&A session during the afternoon and other Doctor Who guests include Nicola Bryant (companion Peri Brown), Terry Molloy (Davros, creator of the Daleks) and Peter Miles, as well as props specialist Mat Irvine, who will be bringing the original K9.

Boba Fett actor Jeremy Bulloch will be among the Star Wars contingent, together with Paul Blake (Greedo) and Mike Edmonds.

Meanwhile, Red Dwarf’s Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) and Norman Lovett (Holly) will also be attending.

Terri Marsh, from Planet Folkestone, said: “We are extremely excited to have Tom Baker joining us this year and the new venue allows us to house a question-and-answer session with him on the day in between him meeting and signing autographs with the public.

“And indeed this year we are again raising money for the Folkestone Rainbow Centre and The Alzheimer’s Society.”

Along with the guests of honour there will be more than 40 sci-fi traders, costumers, body-painting and exhibits for memorable photos, including the KITT car from Knight Rider, Herbie, USS Bridge and a life-size sofa from The Simpsons, along with a
Tardis and Daleks.

Entry tickets are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/planetfolkestone, costing £7 for adults and £4 for children under 15 and £20 for families. Separate tickets need to be booked for the Tom Baker Q&A; these cost an additional £12.
