A MOTORBIKE fanatic who died after being in collision with another bike has been named by Kent Police.

Tim Johnson, 24, of Clifton Road, Folkestone, was riding with two friends when he came off his bike and was hit by another motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

Mr Johnson was employed by SBE phone repairs at the Beaver Industrial Estate at Ashford.

He was riding through Brookland on the A259 on Romney Marsh when the accident happened at 4.20pm on Sunday. He was travelling towards Ashford on his black Kawasaki ZX when the collision happened with the Triumph TT.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashfordand but later died of his injuries. The other motorcyclist was taken to hospital with shoulder injuries.

Bruce Johnson, 35, who lives in the Midlands, shared his brother’s love of motorbikes. He said: “He was just so loved and so popular and bikes were everything to him. He was always full of life and he is going to be missed by many.”

His mother and father, Carol and Gerald Johnson, live in France but have travelled to Folkestone to be with family and friends.

Bruce Johnson added: “Tim was a very sporty chap and loved a game of cricket. But bikes and his partner Sophie were his life and everyone who knew him doted on him.

“I don’t think he could have chosen a better way to go because bikes meant the world to him.”

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at Hawkinge crematorium.

Deputy coroner Christina Freedman opened the inquest into Mr Johnson’s death at Ashford Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning and adjourned it to a later date.
