Firefighters were called when a car burst into flames on a driveway.

It happened at Kettle Drive, Hawkinge, at 9 o'clock last night .

Crews used a special foam to smother the flames.

A spokesman for Folkestone Fire Station said: “Because the fire was on a driveway we sent out two pumps.

“But the occupants of the property the car was outside were not in and we did not have to evacuate any homes.”

The crews used CAPS (compressed air foam system), a type of foam mixed with compressed air, which is more effective than conventional foam.

The car was destroyed by the fire and the cause is not known.
