ACTRESS and animal lover Anita Dobson made an appearence at the Lord Whisky Animal Sanctuary at Stelling Minnis, near Folkestone.

Miss Dobson, best known for her role as Angie Watts in the BBC soap EastEnders, was at a fair there through her connections with the Folkestone Pipe and Drums Band, which entertained visitors.

Miss Dobson spoke to members of the public and took a keen interest in all the sanctuary’s animals. She revealed her favourites were the cats.

The sanctuary has huge monthly running costs which are likely to rise again soon, following plans to launch a mobile animal clinic.

Margaret Todd, the owner of the sanctuary, said: "I would like to thank everybody who came out and supported us.” The event raised around £2,500.
