Air ambulance called to serious incident on Sandgate Hill, Folkestone

The air ambulance has been called out to a serious incident in Folkestone.

An eyewitness said that emergency services descended on the scene on Sandgate Hill at around 9am this morning.

A police spokesperson said: Kent Police was called at 9.05am following a report that a man had fallen from a bicycle on Sandgate Hill, Folkestone."

Police are still at the scene and the road remains closed.

A nearby resident said: "It must have been between 8.30am and 9am that we first heard the police.

"I saw seven police cars and two ambulance vehicles, and then the air ambulance flew over.

"It landed around Saga, and we think that it was near the Old School Mews.

"The police are still in the area investigating, we were interviewed around 20 minutes ago."

The exact circumstances of the incident have not been established, and the severity of the cyclist's injuries are not yet known.

The ambulance service has been contacted for comment.
