Faversham Town boss Ray Turner admits they deserve to be in the Ryman League Cup final

Ray Turner remains focused on success on two fronts after one of Town’s best weeks of the season.

They followed the Ryman League, Division 1 South derby win at Whitstable with victory over Sittingbourne in the League Cup semi-final.

Turner said: “I am delighted but this is not about me, it’s about the players. It’s for them and I’m pleased for the fans and the people behind the scenes at the club. The league is a long grind of 46 games so this (cup) run has been great alongside that.

“(Final opponents) Kingstonian are a great team with great history and they’re sure to have a lot of support there (at Carshalton). We’re more than happy as the underdogs but you can’t deny we have earned our place, beating Whitstable, Folkestone, Dulwich Hamlet, Dorking and Sittingbourne.

“If we can beat Dulwich then we have to give it a go in a final and they are playing the Saturday and Monday before the final too which helps us.”

Town host Corinthian Casuals on Saturday (3pm) with Turner claiming Whitstable were “fortunate to just lose by four” in last weekend’s derby, adding: “We’re playing our best football of the season at the moment.

“The last couple of home crowds have been fantastic and March is going to be a big month for us.

“Casuals have been in and around the play-offs all season and we’ve not done too well against them of late, so hopefully we are due a result to keep them out
of it.”

George Monger begins a two-game ban after picking up 10 bookings, although Josh Stanford and Kieran Campbell return.
