An investigation was today under way after a man was killed on the M2 after being struck by a lorry.

The road was closed from junctions 5 to 6, London-bound, Faversham to Sittingbourne.

Police closed the road at around 2.45pm, and opened it shortly after 4pm.

A foreign lorry was involved in the crash which left traffic queuing at least three miles back.

Four police cars and an ambulance were on the scene.

Kent Police spokesman Jo Robertson, said: “Traffic was diverted away from the area and drivers asked to take an alternative route if possible as there were long delays in the area."
