Metal bar threat in raid on petrol station

ROBBERS threatened petrol station staff with a metal bar and baseball bat before escaping with hundreds of pounds.

Two men walked into Thanet Way service station coastbound on the Thanet Way near Faversham, shortly before 4am on Sunday.

One man picked up a packet of sweets and walked up to the till but when it was opened, he threatened the cashier with a metal bar and stole cash.

The other man, who was holding a baseball hat, held the door open. Police are studying CCTV for images of the men.

The first supect is a while man aged between 20 and 25 with short, brown, straight hair. He was wearing a green top, black sports trousers and black trainers. The second is described as white, similar in age, 5ft 6in and of slim build. He was wearing a blue and white tracksuit top, dark blue tracksuit bottoms and a white baseball cap.

Det Con Vince Straine-Francis, who is in charge of the investigation, said: “I am keen to hear from people who may have witnessed this robbery.”
