Man cut from wreckage after motorway pile-up

A man had to be cut free from the car he was travelling in after a multi-vehicle crash on the M2 in Kent.

Four cars were involved in the incident, which happened near junction 6 (Faversham) on the coastbound stretch at around 6.30pm Monday.

A police spokesman said the man was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The carriageway was closed to allow emergency services to attend the scene, causing delays for motorists.

Police said it had reopened by 7.35pm.
