Man charged after break-ins at Tesco in Faversham

A 48-year-old man has been charged after a Tesco supermarket was broken into three times.

Lee Cooper is accused of forcing his way into the store in Crescent Road, Faversham, and another shop in West Street.

The incidents are reported to have happened between May 30 and July 1.

Cooper, from Abbey Fields in the town, was arrested on July 13 and was bailed with conditions two days later after appearing in court.

He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 27.

On May 30, Faversham’s Tesco was taped off with police tape after a burglary at 4.30am.

A police spokesman said: “Lee Cooper, 48, of Abbey Fields, Faversham, has been charged with four counts of burglary following three break-ins at Tesco in Crescent Road and a burglary at another business in West Street.

“The incidents were reported to have happened between Tuesday, May 30, and Saturday, July 1.”
