Whites bid to end 14 trophy-less years

Dover Athletic v Ashford Town (Middlesex)

WHEN Dover Athletic last lifted some silverware, the Channel Tunnel was still being built and the Conservative government had four years to run.

Fourteen trophy-less years have elapsed since Whites won the Beazer Homes League title in 1993.

But glory beckons tonight when they face Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the Westview Cup final.

Promotion remains the club's primary aim, but a win tonight would be no small consolation for Whites fans after years of struggle.

Hundreds of Dover supporters will travel by coach, car and train to Bromley's Hayes Lane ground for the showpiece game which kicks off at 7.45pm, with extra time and penalties if required.

Ashford are battling relegation from the Premier Division. But they boosted their survival hopes with a vital 2-0 win over Hendon on Saturday.
