Dover consolidated fifth place in London 2 South with a comprehensive seven-try victory against Beckenham on Saturday.

Ben Sedgwick was the first to go over, with the scorer rounding two players to touch down. Blair Charge secured the extras.

Beckenham responded with a penalty before Martyn Beaumont scored from a ruck on the visitors’ try line. A Charge penalty kicked increased Dover’s lead.

Within minutes of the restart Dover scored again when Beaumont’s cross-field kick enabled Sedgwick to juggle before securing the ball and touching down.

Lee Tonks was next to find the try line, with the conversion added.

Beckenham responded by scoring a try from a line-out but it was their final points of the afternoon as first Ricky Mackintosh, then Ricky Stanley and finally Dave Sluman added further scores.

Coach Graham Tonks said: “The lads have again proved how far they have come in a short distance and the game at Gravesend next week should be a real test of character’.

Dover: Moore, Tomlinson (Hewer), Stanley, Sluman, Surendorff, Collins, Foster, D Tonks, D Murray (McNamara), Beaumont, L Tonks (Townley), Mackintosh, Phillips, Sedgwick, Charge.
