Rule breaking rivals restore Whites' Trophy hopes

DOVER Athletic have been dramatically allowed back into the FA Trophy after Barnet were kicked out for fielding an ineligible player when the two sides faced each other.

A Football Association commission hearing on Tuesday deemed Barnet had breached the rules and they became the second club in the space of a few days to be removed from the competition. Leigh RMI were thrown out on Friday for a similar offence.

Whites will now go forward to play at Forest Green in a fourth round tie on Saturday, January 31, for a place in the last 16 of the competition and £5,000 in prize-money.

Barnet had won 3-2 in an entertaining third round game against Dover at Underhill on Saturday, January 10, but included cup-tied player Adam Campion in their line-up.

Players are not allowed to represent two teams in the competition in the same season and Campion had previously played for Aylesbury in the first round.

Whites chairman Mick Kemp said: "From a Dover point of view we very happy about the decision, but it is obviously disappointing for Barnet."
