Morale-building tie for Whites

BROWNE: major league battle ahead
BROWNE: major league battle ahead

DOVER Athletic boss Steve Browne sees Saturday's FA Trophy tie at Staines

as an opportunity to further build morale as his side seek to escape from the relegation zone.

Browne stressed: "If we were to get to the Trophy final but also get relegated, it wouldn't be any good.

"I want to win on Saturday because it will help us to build confidence for the league battle ahead."

With no home game scheduled until November 23, Whites would love to boost their cash flow by beating Staines in the first round tie and securing a place in the next round later this month.

After a first qualifying round exit in the FA Cup and with the unresolved CVA Modification Five issue still threatening, a good run in the competition would be very timely.

Both Byron Bubb and Lee Shearer picked up minor knocks against Tonbridge but Browne expects both men to be fit for Saturday.
