Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear says his side were the better team as they beat Lincoln City 2-0 in Vanarama National League

Chris Kinnear claimed Dover were 'unquestionably' the better side as they downed ambitious Lincoln City at Crabble on Saturday.

Goals early in either half from Jamie Grimes and Moses Emmanuel proved the difference as part-time Whites moved level on points with their full-time visitors in the upper echelons of the Vanarama National League.

Kinnear claimed: "Bar four minutes at the end of the second half when they were 2-0 down and just throwing everything forward, in all aspects of the game we were the best side, there is no question.

"It wasn't easy because everyone applied themselves and worked hard, nothing's easy, it might have looked it but it was not easy at all.

"They are a good side, I have no doubt about that and they'll win lots of games but we can only play against what they put infront of us and we played well."

Kinnear said he set his team up to play the same "whether it had been Lincoln or Folkestone" visiting Crabble, but added: "We spent time looking at the other sides, watching matches and videos, and we know what the other side is going to do.

"We worked out what they were going to do and that's probably why they didn't cause us too many problems.

"Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it did today.

"It's not bad considering we were without the likes of (injured) Ricky Modeste and Richard Orlu who are really quite influential to the way we play."

City top-scorer, the physical Matt Rhead, was kept quiet by Dover's defence and Kinnear added: "To be fair I think Rhead only won (headers) a few times. I thought Jamie Grimes and Tyrone Sterling were immense back there as the whole team were, to be fair."

Dover's last home game saw them pip Forest Green 4-3 in a stunner but Kinnear claimed: "In a way it was better than that win because we didn't let goals in, but to me Forest Green are head and shoulders above everyone else in this league.

"I'm not sure if they're going to win it but the way they play I think they are an absolutely excellent side.

"Lincoln, their resources, they've got to be up there, but who knows, there's Eastleigh, Tranmere, all the top sides have won today. We can only worry about ourselves."
