'Great signing' for Whites

CRAIG WILKINS: two-year contract
CRAIG WILKINS: two-year contract

DOVER Athletic manager Clive Walker has signed the player whom he believes will cure Whites’ goalscoring problems next season.

Walker has persuaded Gravesend & Northfleet’s Craig Wilkins to agree a two-year contract and said afterwards: “This is a great signing for the club, just what we have been looking for.”

Dover had the worst scoring record in the Dr Martens League Premier Division this season and Walker knew that he had to find a proven goalscorer if Whites were to mount a serious title challenge next season.

He is confident that Wilkins, 29, fits the bill. Walker added: “Craig is strong in the air, can lead the line well, and scores goals. He’s a seasoned professional and he can also play at the back, which is an added bonus.”

Wilkins has been with the Fleet for five years, but manager Andy Ford decided not to renew his contract for next season.
