Eton beat Harrow in Channel challenge

A TEAM of boys from Eton won a cross-Channel relay swimming race against a team from Harrow, completing the swim from Dover to Cap Griz Nez in 10 hours 49 minutes.

They set off just before 8.20am yesterday. Conditions in the Channel worsened during the day, forcing the Harrow team to abandon their attempt after eight hours, although they continued swimming using reserves.

The preparations for the race, and the event itself, were filmed by a BBC television crew for a documentary to be screened later in the year.
