Dover 1 Boreham Wood 4 - match report

Three goals in the space of eight second half minutes condemned Dover to a heavy opening night Vanarama National League home defeat at Crabble on Tuesday.

Ricky Miller fired them in front from the spot after 21 minutes, but the game turned three minutes into the second half when he got his marching orders following a second yellow card after a challenge on Wood defender Mark Ricketts.

The visitors were handed a way back into the game on the hour when Jack Parkinson was booked for a challenge in the box, and Kenny Davis stepped up to beat home debutant goalkeeper Steve Arnold from the spot.

Dover imploded after that, conceding two goals in a minute.

Bruno Andrade fired home from close-range to make it 2-1, Angelo Balanta, on trial at Crabble in pre-season, made it 3-1 after the ball came back off the post, before Andrade capped a miserable night for Whites fans by adding the fourth from a deflected free-kick 13 minutes from time as the Hertfordshire side made it two wins from two starts.

Miller was a danger throughout the first half, causing Wood problems several times.

He headed over the bar after three minutes, and then saw another effort saved inside the opening 10 minutes.

Parkinson showed great awareness clearing the danger inside his own area as Wood broke four-on-three.

Balanta fired over the bar before Andrade saw his effort saved by Arnold, who produced a late point-blank save to deny Balanta - but a linesman's flag averted any danger.
