DISMISSED: Clive Walker
DISMISSED: Clive Walker

DOVER Athletic are parting company with manager Clive Walker.

After a board meeting on Thursday evening, chairman Jim Parmenter announced that the club would not be renewing his contract for next season.

Dover lost 2-0 to Hastings United in their Ryman League Division 1 play-off semi-final on Tuesday night.

Mr Parmenter said in a statement: "Clive came back to the club two and a half years ago, shortly after I took over, when we fighting against what seemed certain relegation and made a great effort to keep us up.

"In the last two seasons, by a lot of people's standards, we have had some success: two play-off appearances, a good FA Cuo run and a couple of cup finals. However, we have failed in our stated objective of achieving promotion.

"Therefore, the Board believe that it is time for a fresh approach and will be advertising for a new management team capable of taking the team forward.

"Personally, I have a lot of respect for Cive and he is a good coach. Therefore, I do not rule out the possibility of him playing a different role at the club in the future."
