Sam Wood and Travis Gregory offered new deals by Dover Athletic but 15 depart Crabble

Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler will be facing a busy summer after 15 players departed the club.

Just a handful of the 2020/21 squad will be at Crabble for the start of next season when the club goes part time.

Whites have taken up the option of extending the contracts of young players Josh Bexon, TJ Bramble and Marshall Wratten while offering new deals to captain Sam Wood and Travis Gregory.

Players leaving without the offer of a new deal are Yusif Mersin, Josh Passley, Will De Havilland, Jack Munns, Kurtis Cumberbatch, Paul Rooney, Joe Bedford, Oscar Gobern, Steven Rigg, Bilel Hinchiri, Ahkeem Rose, Omar Mussa, Marvel Expiteta, Louis Collins and Ade Azeez.

Hessenthaler, speaking to the club’s media team, said: “First and foremost I would like to thank each and every one of the players leaving the club for their efforts in what was an unprecedented season.

“I cannot speak highly enough of their attitudes and their commitment during what was an extremely difficult time for us a club.

“It is never an easy time for any manager, informing players they are being let go – it’s tough, but my job is to make these decisions however hard they might be.”

The club added their thanks "to those players who will not be with us going forward for their efforts and we wish each and every one of them every success in the future.”

Dover played just 15 games of the National League season, pulling the plug on their campaign due to lack of finances. They are fighting a points deduction and fine that the National League imposed on them for stopping play.
