Woman cut free after main road crash

A young woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of her car after an accident on the A20 between Dover and Folkestone on Thursday morning.

Both carriageways of the road were blocked as a result of the crash which also involved a lorry.

It happened on the coastbound carriageway by Samphire Hoe between the Court Wood junction and the Aycliffe junction, causing serious congestion.

The German-registered lorry went into the central reservation and ended up across both carriageways.

Fire crews cut the woman driver of the car free. She suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the lorry was not injured.

The lorry's fuel tank was ruptured in the collision and diesel fuel spilled out over the carriageway.

Both carriageways were closed with motorists being diverted along Folkestone Road or up the A2 Jubilee Way.

The cause of the collision is being investigated by police.
