Two men die in head-on lorry crash on A2 in Dover

Two men from Canterbury have died in a head-on lorry crash in Dover, police have confirmed.

The incident involving a yellow lorry and a black Nissan Qashqai happened on the A2 Jubilee Way just before midnight on Sunday.

The lorry was travelling down Jubilee Way towards the docks when it collided with the car, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, and the passenger, a man in his 30s, died at the scene. Their families have been told.

Formal identification of both men has yet to take place.

A 51-year-old man from Romania was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

A 36-year-old man who was also arrested at the scene has been released without charge.
