A teacher at a school once threatened with closure has won a top award.

Susan Rogers, of Langdon Primary School, Dover, was named as the Dover and Thanet area primary school teacher of the year on Wednesday night.

She received the accolade at the annual Kent Teacher of the Year Awards at the Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham.

Her citation stated she had maintained a very high standard of teaching during some troubled times at the school.

It adds: “The school’s head says her committment and dedication are long overdue recognition outside the school community.

“Dedicated to teaching through creativity and play, her professionalism shines out through results.”
