Tesco denies claims that free food was given away during power cut at Whitfield store

A power cut left Tesco’s in Whitfield without any working freezers for up to 40 minutes on Saturday morning.

Residents took to Facebook claiming that it was giving away free food because it had defrosted.

But a press spokesman said that the rumour was untrue because the items were still frozen by the time the power was restored.
